8.21.19 / I’m a Songwriter

I’m a songwriter. I hope you enjoy what I put out for you to listen to. Economically, with a family and a young hockey player, I can not afford to explore the music at the production level I often would like to. But- the song remains the same, no matter how you dress it up. I was a big fan of Sublime Acoustic- the disc that was all just recordings of Brad Nowell’s that were done at restaurants and in his house… and Jack Johnson’s “Jack of All Trades” bootleg that was similar. So why the hell not just release the song I recorded on my iPhone? I play it live and people like it. What’s the difference? I don’t have a record label to advertise and support a tour. So for those of you who like my songs, and support me by coming to a show and throwing a couple bucks in the tip jar, I’m going to keep trying to get them out to you. I put out this last one on SoundCloud, but I’ll have it up on iTunes and Spotify and Amazon soon. If you like it, please share it, come to a show, whatever. Thanks for reading… and listening.

1-2-3
She said
“what can I get you” as I
Sat down at the bar
Asked if it was just me
And I shook my head
“She’ll be coming along sometime soon” I replied
“At least that’s what I think she said”

1-2-3 See I don’t have that much patience
For waiting around
And she’s looking at shoes or jeans or gowns (I don’t know)
I acted like I cared for a moment or two or three or four
Then I hightailed it right outta that damned store

Sometimes I don’t feel like stickin’ around
Sometimes I don’t say the wisest thing
Every time we head back into town
She finds new shoes and I find me a drink

1-2-3 So it ain’t all bad and I’m not complaining
And it’s not really the shoes but the contemplating
About color and size or taste and shelf that supplies
The temporary fix to ease our minds

Sometimes I don’t feel like stickin’ around
Sometimes I don’t say the wisest thing
Every time we head back into town
She finds new shoes and I find me a drink

1-2-3 When she finally catches up to me
I’m still sitting there
And she puts down her bag or two or three or four
Gives me a kiss and says “you waiting for me?”
She’s still the same damn woman I adore

But Sometimes I don’t feel like stickin’ around
Sometimes I don’t say the wisest thing
Every time we head back into town
She finds new shoes and I find me a drink
